“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” – Mark Twain.

A person once asked me “so what are you doing today that’s outside your comfort zone?” after I posted this wonderful quote from Mark Twain on my Facebook status. That was probably the first time in a long time someone asked me such a thought provoking question and it got me stumped. First thing that I thought about that was out of my comfort zone was getting into landscape photography. It’s definitely a risky move because I was starting to established myself as a portrait and wedding photographer and I was comfortable with it. Landscape photography required a lot more patience, always chasing lights, and was completely different than anything else I have known. It’s a constant learning curve for me, but I’m loving every step of it.

If I am honest with myself, another thing I have done that’s outside of my comfort zone is getting married. It has been my biggest fear. I certainly came close once before, but I think unconsciously I sabotaged it fearing that once I got marry it would become an unhealthy, destructive, and abusive relationship. It’s very hard to break a cycle when that’s all you really know, but I’m a working progress and I’ve faced that biggest fear to the fullest. On May 29th, 2010, I got married to a wonderful and supportive person who accepted all my flaws and allow me to grow into a better person I am now. We got married in an intimate outdoor ceremony in Sedona, Arizona. During the process I managed to drag him all over Arizona and part of Utah. Here is one photo from the trip and the beginning of my landscape photography journey.
