This image of Texas is title “Quintessential Texas” taken early Monday morning, April 27th. Nothing says Texas like windmill with a wooden fence and bluebonnets. Hopefully, I capture the essence of Texas in the spring time. The bluebonnets are fading fast here in the Texas Hill Country, but a second round of wildflowers are bursting with colors.

Wildflowers in Texas Hill County

Wildflowers in Texas Hill County

Hi Guys. I was asked by the Photography Editor of Texas Highways Magazine to come to the opening of the The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center in Austin which celebrates spring with Wildflower Days, including The Spectacular Wow, an exhibit of Texas Highways’ springtime photos from the annual April wildflower issue. I will be there from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. this Saturday, April 25th. I will be on hand to talk shop, answer any questions, and review your photo work. If you are in the Austin area this coming weekend, stop by to say by and Hi.

Here is a recent photo taken in Burnet County in the Texas Hill Country. As the Texas bluebonnets starts to seed and slowly dimension, other wildflowers like the Lazy-eyed Susan and the Firewire have started to bloom. With all the recent rain, I think it would be good year.

Morning Glory Blooming In the Gulf Coast of Texas Beach

Morning Glory Blooming In the Gulf Coast of Texas Beach

Texas is known for bluebonnets, but there are so much more wildflowers that grows in our state. In the Gulf Coast, Morning Glory grows abundantly over the sloping dunes making a beautiful background. I was fortunate enough to photograph a fainted rainbow with Morning Glory wildflowers blooming on the dunes over the Gulf of Mexico on Padre Island National Seashore in Texas before the storm erupted.

Classic Texas

Not my typical Texas landscape photos, but I saw this Texas Longhorn walking nonchalantly along the street and I figure I would snap a shot. The Texas Longhorn picture reminds of today’s gloomy weather. Hope everyone is getting some needed rain.

Arizona Landscape Photo

Arizona Landscape Photo

I have always wanted to photograph the Teddy Bear Cholla or better known as Jumping Cholla, a cactus that when the sun hits them will illuminate a “glow”. When the opportunities knock, I took advantage of it and flew to Phoenix, Arizona for a few days. Fortunately, the Sonoran Desert was very close to Phoenix and having seen a dozen photos of the cholla catus, I knew I wanted a different composition instead of just the mountains and desert. I drove for a couple of days in the Tonto National Forest and finally found what I had imagined in my head: a desert oasis.

I feel a little rusty not having photographed anything for a year so it’s nice to come home with an Arizona landscape photo that I am happy with.
